In 2010, there was a crazy notion to create a luau for ALL of the Moanalua High School Alumni to attend – while raising money for our beloved school.

We resurrected the Moanalua Alumni Foundation in 2011 and our first order of business was to create the Menehune Bash.

The Menehune Bash was initially created to get alumni from any year to attend – they can meet their old friends, and of course meet new ones. In 2025, with the monies our alumni has generously donated, we were also happy to create a Menehune Spirit Scholarship for 2 graduating seniors. This scholarship is given to a senior that exemplified the true spirit of a Menehune—demonstrating dedication, resilience, leadership, and spirit. This scholarship recognizes a student who has made a meaningful impact at Moanalua High School and beyond, embodying the values of perseverance, kindness, and school pride.

Over the years, proceeds from the Bash have also helped Moanalua High School with:

• During the Covid-19 pandemic, we purchased the broadcast time on KHON2 for friends & families to enjoy the MoHS graduation ceremonies.

• The purchase of a state-of-the-art audio/visual system for the cafeteria

• A monetary donatation to upgrade the library with large flat screen monitors

• Donated 2,000 Books on the 442nd Regimental Combat Team to the schools in the Moanalua area

Besides creating future scholarships, we are continuing to work with the High School for future capital improvements to the school which will help our future Menehunes.
